* One out of every 20 children born alive die in their first month of life
* One out of ten die before reaching their first birthday
* One out of six die before reaching their fifth birthday
* Ethiopia is about twice the size of Texas, has approximately 75-77 million people, and between 4-5 million orphans (6 million expected in 2010)
* Experts predict more than 25-50 million orphans in Africa by 2010 (that's just next year)
* Half of all children will never attend school
* 88% will never attend secondary school
* The median age is 18
* 44% of the population is under 15 years old
* 2.7 million people in Ethiopia are infected with AIDS
* 720,000 children have been orphaned by AIDS alone
* Per capita, Ethiopia receives less aid than any country in Africa
